Cables & Egypt

I think the cables are very important because if you think about it we need these cables to communicate and transfer information between each other. Countries like Russia and more can easily mess with the cables and disrupt everything. If we don't take this seriously enough they can disrupt our systems and it cost a lot of money to pull these up and repair them. So it's in our best interest to keep them secure. We should at least some protection to the cables so it would be harder to mess with. I do think we are naive for thinking there's no risk because it can happen anytime. We don't know even if that happens. Satellite can't cover everything for us.

The situation with the Egypt government blocking the internet I don't think it's ever right to block the internet and not allow people on it unless the sites are harmful other than that nothing should be blocked. I think anonymous did good with helping the people of Egypt with the dial up connection so they could access the internet. In the moment twitter is very useful in these situations because these people are giving live updates on what's happening, where, and how. The Twitter is always up to date because there are new updates every second from different people. It could be videos, or just words. I also think the Facebook live feature is great because it can give you a live aspect of what's happening and many people can share and see the video. There are other ways as well of course but I think these two are really helpful and useful in these situations.
